From the Clinic to the Cloud:
Why I Built This
“I’ve spent nearly 30 years in clinical practice — across hospitals, clinics, and consulting rooms, alongside practitioners and their teams, in the thick of the work that matters.”
My career has been defined by support. I’ve seen firsthand the relentless pressure, the 3:00 AM calls, and the absolute devotion my colleagues have for their patients. But lately, I’ve seen a new kind of stress creeping into the tea rooms and private rooms — the looming shadow of regulatory compliance.
The Problem I Saw
In an era where a doctor’s public voice is more important than ever, the rules governing what we can and cannot say have become a minefield. I’ve watched incredible practitioners — people who dedicate their lives to patient care — get caught in the crosshairs of AHPRA and the TGA.
It’s rarely because of bad intent. It’s almost always because:
- They are too busy focused on patient outcomes to become experts in advertising law.
- The regulations are dense, shifting, and often counter-intuitive.
- They want to be compliant, but the friction of manual checking is exhausting.
My Intent: Protection, Not Just Software
It broke my heart to see good doctors facing fines and reputational damage over a misplaced testimonial or a technicality in a social media post. We are trained to heal, not to be compliance officers.
I realised that my colleagues didn’t need another lecture on regulations; they needed a shield.
I built this platform to create zero-friction compliance. I wanted to build a tool that feels like a trusted colleague — one that anticipates the problem, handles the complexity, and lets the practitioner focus on the patient.
Why Me, Why Now
When you spend three decades working alongside healthcare professionals, you learn something most people outside the profession never see: the gap between how hard these people work and how little infrastructure exists to protect them from the administrative side of practice.
I’d watched colleagues receive AHPRA notices over website content they didn’t even know was non-compliant. I’d seen the anxiety it caused — good clinicians second-guessing every word they published, or worse, going silent altogether. And I kept thinking: someone who actually understands this world needs to build the solution, because the people building compliance tools from the outside don’t understand what it’s like in here.
That combination — clinical experience, firsthand exposure to the regulatory pressure, and a stubborn refusal to watch good practitioners get burned by preventable mistakes — is what led me to build The Compliance Scalpel.
Why This Matters to Me
I didn’t build this as a “tech entrepreneur.” I built this as a doctor who cares about the longevity of our profession. My goal is simple: to ensure that the work you do in the clinic isn’t undermined by a mistake made on a keyboard.
I want to take the “compliance headache” off your plate so you can get back to what you do best.
I’ve got your back, just like I have for the last 30 years.
